As someone who likes when franchises stray away from the norm and try to do something radical and different but with the same digestible tone and style, I am excited by the Russos insisting this was their plan with the two Avengers movies. I love Star Wars: The Last Jedi and I even liked Eternals more than most, so hearing that Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will challenge audiences is exactly what I want to hear.
Moreover, I trust the Russos to be able to deliver on this promise in a way that does not make these movies as divisive as the two prior examples I provided. The Russos know the Marvel universe and have been clear about their love for Secret Wars in particular. Thankfully, though, the Russos are not content to simply translate the source material to the screen but are willing to surprise and challenge audiences where possible. Given the overall apathy that has been directed against the MCU in recent years, radical versions of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars could be exactly what Marvel needs.
