Jon Hamm Addresses Potential MCU X-Men Role After Previous Mister Sinister Talks: "I Hope I Get A Chance"

While he almost got to play one of the most iconic X-Men villains for 20th Century Fox, Jon Hamm is still hoping he gets to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future. Many Hollywood stars have already joined the MCU and other Marvel properties, but there are also some who were close to landing an opportunity. One of them was Hamm, who had initially been looked at to play Minister Sinister in a sequel to The New Mutants prior to Disney acquiring 20th Century Fox, with the X-Men rights reverting back to Marvel Studios.
Screen Rant recently interviewed Hamm himself for Fargo season 5, and during the exclusive chat, the Mad Men alum was also asked if he would want another shot at joining the X-Men franchise, as the MCU is finally getting ready to bring the iconic mutants into the Avengers-based universe. Hamm, who is a passionate comic book fan himself, stressed that he hopes to be included in whatever plans Marvel Studios have cooking for the X-Men reboot in the MCU. In addition to that, Hamm added that he wouldn't mind also tapping into the Fantastic Four, perhaps as Doctor Doom, sharing the following:

I don't know. Those decisions get made at such a high level at this point, definitely above my pay grade. I would love to. I've been a fan of Marvel Comics and comics in general since I was probably single digits. I think there are tons of stories that I'm familiar with, at least, that are still out there to be told.
Hopefully, whatever their plans are, they include me. But if not, I know that they have a pretty deep bench of folks that are ready to be a part of those stories. There are certainly a lot of stories in the X-Men world to be told. Fantastic Four as well, [like] Doctor Doom. There are so many great things out there. But yeah, I hope I get a chance. Who knows?

Jon Hamm's Career Makes Him A Perfect Fit For MCU's X-Men Or Fantastic Four

With someone of Hamm's caliber, it is shocking how the MCU hasn't already considered him for a role in the franchise. While details are unclear on the X-Men reboot, it would be a full circle moment if Hamm did end up getting cast as Mister Sinister. Not only would it let him play the Marvel baddie that he was being eyed for in the first place, but the X-Men movie could give the audience a refreshing first villain for the iconic mutants.
