Superman: Legacy has cast its Jimmy Olsen. Set to debut the new DCU envisioned by Gunn and Peter Safran, Superman: Legacy is set to be the flagship feature film that will introduce Kal-El's world as both Superman and Clark Kent. As such, this will include Superman's best friend and leading photographer at the Daily Planet newspaper.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, actor Skyler Gisondo has been cast as Clark Kent's best pal Jimmy Olsen in Superman: Legacy, set to release in 2025. Gisondo is known for his roles in Booksmart, The Righteous Gemstones, and Vacation. It's also been reported that Portuguese model Sara Sampaio has been cast as Eve Tessmacher, Lex Luthor's assistant who first appeared in Richard Donner's Superman rather than in the comics. Gisondo and Sampaio's casting was also confirmed by James Gunn himself on Threads.
One of the few DC characters with a direct line to Superman himself, Jimmy Olsen was given a special watch capable of emitting a frequency only the Man of Steel could hear thanks to his super-hearing, alerting him when Jimmy or anyone else nearby was in danger in Metropolis or anywhere else Olsen might be sent by the Daily Planet to take pictures. As a result, Jimmy is a crucial Superman character who notably has a foot in both of Kal-El's dual lives.
