Taika Waititi"s Star Wars Movie Status Updated By Lucasfilm President
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy provides an update on Taika Waititi's
Star Wars movie, which was first announced in 2020. Waititi is best known for his work in the MCU, directing Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder. Waititi would later join the Star Wars universe with The Mandalorian, voicing droid IG-11 and directing the season 1 finale. In addition to his work in The Mandalorian, it was announced that Waititi would write and direct his very own Star Wars movie, with recent reports stating that the filmmaker may star in the project as well.
After Lucasfilm announced several new Star Wars movies at Star Wars Celebration 2023, it became increasingly unclear what the status of Waititi's project is. Now, in a recent interview with Variety, Kennedy confirms that Waititi is still working on the script for his project. Check out Kennedy's full comment below:
“Taika is still working away. He’s writing the script himself. He doesn’t really want to bring others into that process and I don’t blame him. He has a very, very unique voice. So we want to protect that and that’s what he’s doing. But we’re going to make that one day.”
