The Dark Knight Ignored The Biggest Villain Of Nolan"s Batman Trilogy

Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight saw Christian Bale’s Batman facing the Joker (Heath Ledger) and Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), and it’s the only movie in Nolan’s Batman movies that ignored the trilogy’s biggest villain. After dealing with Ra’s al Ghul (Liam Neeson), Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson), and Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy) in Batman Begins, the Caped Crusader met two very different villains in The Dark Knight.
The Dark Knight saw the arrival of the Joker in Gotham City as district attorney Harvey Dent formed an alliance with Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) to eliminate organized crime. The Joker’s actions not only unleashed chaos all over Gotham, but he was also responsible for Dent’s villainous turn, so Batman had to deal with two villains with different purposes. The Dark Knight's villains stand out not just for the performances of their actors and their roles in the story, but because they are the only ones not tied to the biggest villain in Nolan’s Batman trilogy: the League of Shadows.
