After building up the mystery of who Red Death is, The Flash season 9 is now getting to the bottom of why this version of Ryan Wilder is going after the Scarlet Speedster. In this week's episode, "The Mask of the Red Death, Part 1," the Arrowverse drama went into where this Ryan comes from and what she is up to. With this storyline getting closer to finishing up, the second part of the Red Death finale is coming up in just a week.
"The Mask of the Red Death, Part 1" saw Central City suffer from a blackout thanks to the villainous speedster. While suspected to be the new avatar of the Negative Speed Force, The Flash season 9, episode 4, confirmed that this wasn't the case.
Following the airing of this week's episode, The CW released the trailer for The Flash season 9, episode 5. Appropriately titled "The Mask of the Red Death, Part 2," the upcoming episode gives a preview of the final battle between the DC foe and the fastest man alive. "The Mask of the Red Death, Part 2" was directed by Rachel Talalay, with story by Jonathan Butler and teleplay by Dan Fisk.
