David Tennant"s Star Wars Return Confirmed
Doctor Who star David Tennant is returning to the Star Wars galaxy for the
Ahsoka series. After the Ahsoka trailer revealed old and new faces from the Star Wars galaxy, the Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration confirmed the series’ cast. Ahsoka will continue Star Wars' relatively recent tradition of brining characters from the animated series, namely Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, to live-action.
David Tennant will voice a live-action version of the droid Huyang in the upcoming Ahsoka series. Tennant originally voiced Huyang in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
The confirmation that David Tennant will voice Huyang in Ahsoka comes after the first Ahsoka trailer revealed the droid's return to the Star Wars galaxy. Other Ahsoka characters that originate from animated shows include Chopper, Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), not to mention Ahsoka herself.
David Tennant's Ahsoka Character Explained

Despite being created for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano’s most recent Star Wars adventure before her live-action debut had been in Star Wars Rebels. Still, while Rebels is setting the narrative for Ahsoka, some Clone Wars faces are returning too. That includes Huyang, who first appeared in Clone Wars' "A Test of Strength". Huyang worked at the Jedi Temple and was responsible for teaching Jedi younglings how to build their own lightsabers, something that Star Wars rarely shows on screen.
Tennant reprised his role as Huyang in the two final entries of the Jedi Younglings arc, namely “Bound for Rescue” and “A Necessary Bond”. The Jedi Younglings arc also heavily featured Ahsoka Tano. Given that the Younglings arc was essentially an Ahsoka arc too, it is most fitting that Huyang’s live-action debuts happen in Ahsoka.
