Loki Season 2 Repeats The MCU"s Major Multiverse Saga Problem For The Third Time

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Loki season 2, episode 4.
Summary
  • The death of Victor Timely in Loki season 2, episode 4 is not the first time a variant of Kang the Conqueror has died in the MCU's Multiverse Saga. Sylvie killed He Who Remains in the Loki season 1 finale, and another variant was killed in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quauntumania.
  • Killing Kang variants repeatedly may desensitize viewers to the idea and make the ultimate defeat of Kang the Conqueror less impactful. It also sends the wrong message about his power and could pose a narrative problem for the MCU as the Multiverse Saga culminates.
  • Introducing Kang early on may be a response to the rushed debut of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. However, repeating his deaths risks undermining the franchise's storytelling and the anticipation for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. New episodes of Loki season 2 are released every Thursday on Disney+.
Loki season 2, episode 4 pulls a problematic twist for the third time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Multiverse Saga. Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief continues his endeavor to understand the multiverse better in his own hit Disney+ series. With the help of his old TVA cohorts, Mobius and Hunter B-15, as well as some new allies in OB and Casey, Loki hunts down He Who Remains' new variant — Victor Timely, who is poised to be the key in fixing the urgent multiversal crisis before him.
After a harrowing trip to 1893 Chicago, Loki and Mobius successfully bring Victor Timely to the TVA so they can fix the Temporal Loom in Loki season 2, episode 4, "Heart of the TVA". Their mission is interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Ravonna Renslayer and Miss Minutes, but despite the hurdles, they are able to get everything ready to finally make the repair. Victor Timely volunteers to take the Throughput Multiplier beyond the blast doors as Mobius did in the Loki season 2 premiere. Unfortunately, they miscalculated the impact of the Temporal Radiation this time, resulting in the unexpected death of Victor Timely.
Your browser does not support the video tag. The MCU Has Killed Kang Variants Three Times Already In the context of the Loki show, this is surprising. Loki and Mobius worked so hard to convince Victor Timely to help them. However, in the grand scheme of things, this is nothing new. This isn't the first time that a variant of Kang the Conqueror has died in the Multiverse Saga; it's the third. Firstly, Sylvie killed He Who Remains in the Loki season 1 finale. After that, another variant was killed in the Quantum Realm at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quauntumania by Ant-Man and the Wasp. Granted that the manner of Victor Timely's demise is more shocking and gory, but that's all it is.
