I"ve Completely Changed My Mind About David Corenswet’s Superman Costume
Summary
- I initially disliked David Corenswet's Superman suit but changed my mind after new set photos.
- I wanted a more classic, optimistic Superman, and I'm glad the DCU costume now reflects that.
- I'm excited about the DCU's superhero costumes and overall tone, with Mister Terrific's comic-accurate costume serving as a positive example.
After initially not liking David Corenswet's superhero suit for James Gunn's
Superman, I am now excited about the DC Universe costume. Superman might be my most anticipated superhero movie, and there is a key reason behind that. I first found out about Corenswet when I watched the first season of Netflix's The Politician in 2019.
From the moment he appeared onscreen, I knew that he should be the next Superman. The cherry on top of the cake was the fact that he didn't only have the looks but also the skills to lead the DCU's movies and series as Superman.
Then came Hollywood — also on Netflix — a year later, in 2020. This was the first time I saw Corenswet in a leading role, and it was enough to cement my favorite pick for the next Superman. At the time, Henry Cavill was still Superman in the DCEU; however, I was never a fan of the darker version of the hero in that universe. I was ready for a change, and when Corenswet was announced as the Clark Kent of Gunn's Superman reboot, I was ecstatic. Sadly,
my first impressions of Corenswet's Superman suit were not great.
