During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jon Hamm revealed more about his potential superhero franchise future. Noting that "there were a lot of conversations, and I'm still in those," Hamm seemed to confirm that a role in the MCU could be possible, especially since he has "pitched [himself] for a couple parts of the Marvel Universe." There are many fantastic and powerful characters from Marvel Comics that Jon Hamm could introduce to the MCU, and he could even debut before the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga.
Yeah. And it’s not like they were saying, “We want you to be Iron Man.” But there were a lot of conversations, and I’m still in those. I talk to the guys that run Marvel and DC. And I’m a comic book nerd. So, we’ll see. Even that part of the industry is changing. I’ve pitched myself for a couple parts of the Marvel universe, I don’t want to say what exactly, but it was a part of a comic book that I really liked. Jon Hamm's stature, confidence, and personality make him a great choice for a live-action Bastion.
Theo James voiced Bastion in X-Men '97, and he would be a strong choice to bring his animated character into live-action. However, Hamm's more years of experience, particularly as handsome and domineering characters, and those with a twist, such as Matt Trent in Black Mirror, makes him a closer match for Bastion. It may be several years before Bastion makes his live-action debut in the MCU, so the fact that Hamm may join the MCU sooner suggests this haunting villain may be discounted.

With Marvel Studios heading towards the 2027 release of Avengers: Secret Wars, being cast as the Beyonder could bring Jon Hamm into the MCU very soon.

The Beyonder initially has a childish, inquisitive temperament, wanting to learn about humans and heroes. Hamm's recent spin as the unknowingly-powerful Archangel Gabriel in Good Omens has proven that he is uniquely qualified to take on this role, though there are many theories suggesting Marvel Studios may alter the origins of the Beyonder to better fit the MCU.

Black Bolt Black Bolt Could Be Reinvented For The MCU With Jon Hamm In Mind Close The King of the Inhumans, Black Bolt, has previously been portrayed by Anson Mount in Marvel Television's reviled Inhumans series and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Even so, it's possible Marvel Studios may recast the formidable character for his potential debut in the MCU's main continuity, creating the opportunity for Jon Hamm to bring the stoic and steadfast Inhuman leader into live-action. Characters related to the Inhumans will soon appear in the MCU, meaning Black Bolt's official debut may be right round the corner.
Marvel Studios has avoided bringing the Inhumans into the MCU following the eponymous ABC series' failure, but casting Jon Hamm as Black Bolt would bring star-power and gravitas to their introduction. Black Bolt is a mostly silent character, as his sensitive hypersonic voice is incredibly destructive. Nevertheless, Hamm's experience in physical comedy would allow him to demonstrate Black Bolt's compassionate, loving, yet stern personality without uttering a word.

The Maker Jon Hamm's Reed Richards Variant Could Oppose Pedro Pascal's Mister Fantastic Close Marvel Studios recently confirmed the casting of Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards' Mister Fantastic, the leader of the Fantastic Four, dashing some fan-cast theories that placed Jon Hamm in the coveted role. Even so, there is still a chance that Hamm could portray Richards, especially in the Multiverse Saga, as he could bring a more sinister variant of Richards into live-action. In Marvel's Ultimate Universe, Reed Richards became the Maker, a version who turned to evil and malice after a series of traumatic events, and Jon Hamm would be perfect at delivering this complex and emotional narrative.
Miles Teller's version of Reed Richards from 2015's Fantastic Four was based on the Ultimate Universe's Maker, but this depiction was a complete flop. Jon Hamm would do a far superior job as the Maker opposite Pascal's Mister Fantastic, particularly since the pair are closer in age. Hamm's notable roles as the morally gray Don Draper in Mad Men and bad guy Roy Tillman in Fargo have primed him to assume this more-nefarious role in the MCU, and could set him up as the villainous foil to Pascal's Reed Richards for years to come.

This, of course, creates the opportunity for Jon Hamm to simply play himself in the MCU, but this would be an incredibly brief role for the actor, so he may be better matched to another character related to the Hellfire Club: Sebastian Shaw. A frequent adversary of the X-Men, Shaw would be great to see get reinvented by Hamm in the MCU.
2011's X-Men: First Class debuted Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, but also killed off this notable X-Men villain in his debut movie. Kevin Bacon did a good job at showcasing Shaw's charisma and commanding personality in First Class, but if recast for the MCU, Jon Hamm would be a fantastic choice to replace him. Jon Hamm debuting as Sebastian Shaw could set up an exploration of the Hellfire Club that hasn't been seen in live-action before, and could allow Hamm to remain in the MCU's X-Men stories for the foreseeable future.

Norman Osborn may fill this role in the MCU's new Spider-Man trilogy, perhaps altered from Marvel Comics so as not to make him a villain immediately. Jon Hamm has played several father figures over the years, so being cast as Norman Osborn could see him take the now-anonymous hero Peter Parker under his wing, though could also set up major storylines for the MCU's future.

Henry Gyrich most recently appeared in X-Men '97, voiced by Todd Haberkorn, though he eventually had his memories absorbed by Rogue before being killed by Bastion.

Hamm's multitude of comedic roles have showcased his playfulness and energy over the years, reminiscent of Marvel Comics' Christopher Summers, a.k.a. Corsair. The father of X-Men members Cyclops and Havok was introduced as the leader of the cosmic Starjammers team, which could make Jon Hamm the new face of the MCU's space-faring storylines.
At 53-years-old, Jon Hamm is the perfect age to portray the father of notable X-Men heroes, should the likes of Cyclops and Havok be introduced as young men in the MCU's future. The Summers family's history has never been depicted in live-action before, so casting an actor on the level of Hamm as Corsair in the MCU could finally detail the Summers' dramatic backstory. With no upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movies confirmed, introducing Corsair and the Starjammers would be a fantastic way to continue Marvel Studios' cosmic adventures.
Cyclops and Havok have previously been played by James Marsden, Tim Pocock, Tye Sheridan, and Lucas Till, respectively, but the pair's father has never been seen in live-action.

Back in November 2023, Screen Rant spoke to Jon Hamm regarding a potential role in the MCU, and the actor expressed interest in portraying Doctor Doom in Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four reboot. Hamm's recent role of the caring but hard and morally-questionable Paul Marks in The Morning Show surprisingly shared some similarities with Victor Von Doom.
I don't know. Those decisions get made at such a high level at this point, definitely above my pay grade. I would love to. I've been a fan of Marvel Comics and comics in general since I was probably single digits. I think there are tons of stories that I'm familiar with, at least, that are still out there to be told.Both billionaire Marks and supervillain Doom are wholly interested in their own self-progression, rather than building up those around them. They are also both willing to go to extreme lengths to develop their own careers and extend their power and influence, yet also sometimes do the right thing, siding with their respective heroes, but only when it benefits them. As the Fantastic Four's most formidable and recognizable villain, Doctor Doom would be a powerful role for Jon Hamm, and one he may be perfect at bringing to life.
Hopefully, whatever their plans are, they include me. But if not, Is know that they have a pretty deep bench of folks that are ready to be a part of those stories. There are certainly a lot of stories in the X-Men world to be told. Fantastic Four as well, [like] Doctor Doom. There are so many great things out there. But yeah, I hope I get a chance. Who knows?
1 Nathaniel Essex, A.K.A. Mister Sinister Jon Hamm Would Be Great As The Charismatic Mister Sinister Close Sinister is an incredibly charismatic villain who is obsessed with experimenting on mutants, making him a regular thorn in the X-Men's side.
Jon Hamm was well-known to be in consideration for the role of Nathaniel Essex's Mister Sinister during the production of 2020's The New Mutants, which would have wrapped up years of teasing in Fox's X-Men franchise. Hamm clarified to Yahoo! Entertainment in March 2022 that he "never shot anything," but had conversations and was excited to be considered. Hamm has reiterated his interest in portraying Mister Sinister time and again, even in his conversation with Screen Rant, noting that there are "a lot of stories in the X-Men world to be told."
Mister Sinister is one of Marvel Comics' most powerful, memorable, and consistent villains to numerous heroes, though most notably mutants and the X-Men. Sinister is an incredibly charismatic villain who is obsessed with experimenting on mutants, making him a regular thorn in the X-Men's side. This would be an inspired role for Jon Hamm in the MCU, with his huge range of acting talents benefiting the complex villain, Mister Sinister, in all areas, feeding his dramatism and theatricality, as well as his humor, haunting nature, and intimidating personality.
