Marvel Studios" First TV Show Is Now Secretly Getting 2 Second Seasons

Summary
  • Two confirmed sequel series for WandaVision are confirmed.
  • Characters from WandaVision will return, including White Vision, Agatha Harkness, and more.
  • The WandaVision sequel series could lead to the Scarlet Witch's MCU return.
WandaVision was the first TV show produced by Marvel Studios for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and three years after the series premiered, the project is getting two second seasons of sorts. WandaVision starred Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany as the Vision. The MCU TV show was the first for the studio as Marvel started to expand beyond just movies. With the creation of Disney+, the MCU became able to test out different formats, with movies, TV shows, Special Presentations, animation, and shorts becoming part of Marvel Studios' output in recent years.
WandaVision and other MCU TV series allowed characters who had not been given their chance yet in the spotlight to shine. After WandaVision, Olsen's Scarlet Witch exploded in popularity, becoming one of the most popular characters in the MCU. WandaVision's ending did plenty of work to set up not only Wanda's story but that of other key players in the series. While a formal season 2 for the series is not in the works, two upcoming Marvel Studios projects paint the perfect picture of how WandaVision will continue to impact the MCU years after release.

There Are 2 Confirmed WandaVision Sequel Series Key Characters Will Return Close While WandaVision season 2 will not happen, the MCU is actively working on two sequel projects to Marvel Studios' first TV series. The first of those is Agatha All Along. The series is the next live-action MCU show to air this year, premiering on September 18. The show is headed by Kathryn Hahn, reprising her Agatha Harkness role from WandaVision. After a series of different titles were revealed for the Agatha project, including Darkhold Diaries, House of Harkness, Agnes of Westview, Coven of Chaos, and The Lying Witch with Great Wardrobe, Marvel revealed Agatha All Along as the true title.
Agatha All Along will not be the only sequel series in the MCU for WandaVision. Recently, it was confirmed that a Vision series remains in development at Marvel. The project was first reported in 2022. At the time, the Vision series was said to be titled Vision Quest, with WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer returning to oversee the project. However, the recent update on the status of the series makes no mention of its previous title. Instead of Schaeffer, Star Trek: Picard executive producer Terry Matalas serves as the showrunner for the Vision series. Paul Bettany will return as Vision.
As its name clearly states, Marvel Studios' WandaVision was a show led by two characters, Olsen's Wanda and Bettany's Vision. However, only one of them has got an MCU follow-up at this time. After starring in WandaVision, Olsen returned as the Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The project built on WandaVision's ending, with Wanda searching throughout the multiverse for a reality where her twin sons were alive. With the Scarlet Witch seemingly dead at the end of the MCU movie, Agatha All Along — focused on WandaVision's villain — and Vision can keep the series' legacy alive.

Agatha All Along Expands The MCU’s Magic Corner In Exciting Ways WandaVision Set Up A New Agatha Close WandaVision ended with Agatha trapped. After breaking free of her Hex, Wanda realized the harm in what she was doing and freed the residents of Westview. The character bested Agatha Harkness in combat, trapping the evil witch as her fake, nosy neighbor Agnes persona in Westview for her part in playing with Wanda's mind. While Marvel Studios has yet to officially release a trailer for the upcoming MCU show, footage from Agatha All Along and other MCU shows — Daredevil: Born Again and Ironheart — at Disney's Upfront revealed what will be the driving force of the Agatha series.
Aubrey Plaza's character talks to Agatha, who is still trapped by Wanda's spell. Agatha then says that Wanda took all her power away but that she will become the witch she was again. That is the setting for the series, with Agatha Harkness attempting to get back to her old self by assembling her own coven. The MCU series will delve deeper into the franchise's magic side, including the debut of the Witches' Road, a plane only accessible by magic users. Agatha All Along is also rumored to see Joe Locke play Billy Kaplan, one of Wanda and Vision's children.

The Vision Series Takes The Character Out Of The Scarlet Witch’s Shadow WandaVision Saw One Of Its Leads' Popularity Rise Close Bettany was great as Vision and White Vision in WandaVision; however, the MCU series did not put him on the same top shelf as it did Wanda. After the series, the Scarlet Witch became one of the most popular MCU characters. While Vision did get a nice bump in popularity with the fans, he is still a few steps below Olsen's Scarlet Witch and other major MCU characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and others. The reason for that is, while WandaVision was a series focusing on two characters, it did lean more into being a Scarlet Witch project.
The MCU's Vision series will now break free from that, allowing Bettany's character to be the only one in the spotlight, even if Wanda plays a role somehow, which is possible, according to reports. WandaVision ended by setting up an interesting road for Bettany in the MCU. While the original Vision died — and the Vision from Wanda's Hex ceased to exist — White Vision is still in the MCU. The Hex Vision shared his memories with White Vision, making it so that the character who was created based on the body of the original android could once again be whole.

Both WandaVision Sequel Series Can Lead To The Scarlet Witch’s Return Wanda Maximoff Is Likely To Return Close The Scarlet Witch sacrificed herself to destroy the Darkholds across the multiverse at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While the character is seemingly dead after the event, the last time Wanda is seen is when a huge flash of red light appears as Mount Wundagore crumbles. That could have been the Scarlet Witch teleporting herself out of harm's way. Based on Wanda's popularity, it is difficult to believe that the character is really dead, and the two WandaVision sequel series could be Marvel's way of setting up her return.
First is Agatha All Along. The series is rumored to have Joe Locke play Billy Kaplan, one of Wanda's reincarnated sons. With Agatha's vendetta against the Scarlet Witch, Billy's rumored presence could connect with the villain searching for Wanda. That could also be one of White Vision's goals in the Vision series, alongside striking a balance between his memories. The project is rumored to feature an adaptation of "The Children's Crusade" arc from Marvel Comics, which featured Billy and the Young Avengers looking for her, and that means the two WandaVision sequel series could culminate in her 2026 return.
WandaVision WandaVision, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first TV show on Disney+, first aired in 2021. The series kicked off the MCU’s Phase 4 and brought back Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, and Paul Bettany as Vision. WandaVision strayed away from Marvel’s typical formula, this time formatting itself more like a classic sitcom as Wanda struggles to cope with the death of Vision.
