The Fantastic Four Is The MCU Multiverse Saga Movie I Have Been Waiting For

Summary
  • The Fantastic Four can finally be the ideal movie for the team.
  • The MCU movie could be the major franchise the Multiverse Saga needs at the moment.
  • The Fantastic Four rumors hint at an intriguing MCU multiverse movie.
After a long road of rumors, The Fantastic Four is getting close to the start of filming, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is the film that I have been waiting for since the start of the Multiverse Saga. I was one of the fans who was ecstatic when it was announced that Marvel decided to expand with TV shows and other formats after the creation of Disney+. Sadly, while there have been some great MCU TV shows, Marvel has not found the same groove on TV it had with films in the Infinity Saga.
Making matters worse, like many fans, I think the MCU's films during the Multiverse Saga have also been hit-or-miss, though I'm not really on the whole doom and gloom camp. Marvel Studios has plenty of exciting projects that could help build momentum for the MCU again, turning the current public image of the franchise around. Chief among them is The Fantastic Four. For the first time ever, Marvel's First Family will come to live-action in a film produced by Marvel Studios, and The Fantastic Four is the project I have waited many years for.

The Fantastic Four Can Finally Be The Ideal Movie For The Team Previous Films Fell Short For Different Reasons Close Let me preface this by saying that I enjoyed the 2000s Fantastic Four movies. That said, both of them — and the lackluster 2015 reboot by director Josh Trank — are not exactly what I see as the ideal representation of the Fantastic Four on the big screen. While the cast for the two Fantastic Four movies with Chris Evans as Johnny Storm was pretty much perfect for the team, the movies felt like fun adventures that never got into the epic scale that Fantastic Four stories in Marvel Comics could get.

Adding to that, Doctor Doom was not as intriguing as he should have been, and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer butchered Galactus. Then came the reboot, popularly known as FANT4STIC. While I was genuinely entertained for the first twenty minutes or so of the film during the flashbacks, the movie would turn into a bleak affair with little action or fun. After the three live-action Fantastic Four films, the MCU can finally bring the ideal version of the team to life in The Fantastic Four, and the updates from the film have me very excited about it.

The Fantastic Four Is The Kind Of Major Franchise That The Multiverse Saga Needs Right Now Marvel Has Had A Few Rough Releases Close The decision not to have an Avengers movie until the MCU's Phase 6 after the end of the Infinity Saga is baffling to me. Marvel lost its biggest stars as Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. left, and instead of using its most famous franchise to make up for the losses, the MCU expanded all over the place. That led to smaller projects and many new characters being introduced, with few actually having a meaningful impact on the franchise or appearing more than once until now. However, Marvel is shifting course.
The Fantastic Four can be the dose of adrenaline the MCU needs to chart a new path forward.
Disney CEO Bob Iger has revealed that Marvel will focus on franchises and sequels going forward. Amid many controversial releases, I firmly believe that The Fantastic Four is the kind of movie the MCU desperately needs right now, being able to introduce a new major franchise. The Fantastic Four's cast is star-studded, with Galactus set to return as the main villain of a Fantastic Four film after years. Only this time, I have full faith that Kevin Feige will do him right. The Fantastic Four can be the dose of adrenaline the MCU needs to chart a new path forward.

The Fantastic Four Rumors Could Result In The Most Intriguing MCU Multiverse Movie An Alternate Universe Could Be In Play Close No official details have been revealed about the story of the film, though Marvel has teased a few elements that could be part of the Fantastic Four reboot. When unveiling the movie's cast, official The Fantastic Four concept art teased that the movie would take place in the 1960s. I love that choice. The decision would make The Fantastic Four a unique addition to the MCU, setting it apart from other movies and series — and the Fantastic Four films so far — by taking place in the past and seemingly a different version of it.

Human Torch concept art showed the skyline of a retro-futuristic New York. Based on Marvel's teases, The Fantastic Four could end up taking place in a new universe. I would very much like to see that, as one of my biggest issues with the Multiverse Saga is that it does not feel as expansive as it should. Having the Fantastic Four come from a new universe and escape to or get stranded in the MCU would make for a bigger exploration of the multiverse that I have been yearning for, and that makes me very intrigued by The Fantastic Four.
The Fantastic Four (2025) Marvel's Fantastic Four is the first MCU movie to feature Marvel's First Family in the same live-action universe as the Avengers. It introduces the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm, and precedes Phase 6's Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
