- The revival brings back nostalgic characters and storylines.

X-Men '97 featured a swathe of classic Marvel allies from X-Men: The Animated Series, but several famed characters from the original series were omitted. Throughout X-Men: TAS, the X-Men often teamed up with friends from X-Men comics and beyond, including some stalwart members from the X-Men’s line-up. Many of these, however, were absent from X-Men ‘97’s first season, and should be considered by Marvel for the second season.
X-Men ’97 proved so successful that Marvel commissioned X-Men ’97 season 2 before the first season even aired. Marvel’s X-Men ’97 season 1 revived the classic X-Men: The Animated Series, which was part of Marvel’s interconnected animated universe from 1990s Saturday morning cartoons. As such, many missing characters could be introduced in the second season, broadening the revival’s scope and pantheon of heroes, and also addressing some unresolved narratives teased by the original series that were never completed.

10 Colossus Had Several Iconic Appearances Colossus Appeared In X-Men: TAS, Season 1, Episode 8 "The Unstoppable Juggernaut" & Season 2, Episode 4 "Red Dawn" Close In X-Men: The Animated Series, Colossus made memorable appearances in two standout episodes. His clash with Juggernaut highlighted his immense strength and durability, while his confrontation with Omega Red showcased his unwavering courage. Despite being invited to join the X-Men, Colossus chose to stay in Russia, emphasizing his strong sense of duty and loyalty. His presence brought
a unique blend of power and integrity to the series, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.
Colossus is very likely to appear in X-Men '97 at some point, with an X-Men: TAS legacy comparable to Nightcrawler, who joined the official X-Men team in X-Men '97. Colossus would be a fun addition, as already depicted in episode 2, “Mutant Liberation Begins,” when Morph transforms into him to fight the X-Cutioner. As the X-Men team continues to evolve,
Colossus could be seamlessly integrated, even temporarily, in X-Men '97.
9 Illyana Rasputin Was Teased By Morph Illyana Rasputin Appeared In X-Men: TAS Season 2, Episode 4 "Red Dawn" & Episode 7-8 "Time Fugitives" Close Illyana Rasputin, also known as Magik, made notable appearances in X-Men: The Animated Series. In one episode, she is
captured by the menacing Omega Red, only to be rescued by her stalwart older brother, Colossus, and the X-Men. This showcased their strong familial bond, which prompted Colossus to remain in Russia. Another significant episode sees Illyana being infected with the techno-organic virus.
Illyana was teased in X-Men ’97 with some significant developments. In episode 3, “Fire Made Flesh,” Morph transforms into Illyana while battling Madelyne Pryor. Initially, Morph assumes Illyana’s traditional comic book appearance before transforming into her Magik guise. Neither of these appeared previously in X-Men: TAS,
where she had not yet gained any of her powers. Their appearance in X-Men ’97 suggests Illyana’s transformation into Magik (after being trapped in Limbo for several years) has occurred in the interim and could be explored in season 2.
8 Longshot Appeared In An X-Men '97 Opening Credits Sequence Longshot Appeared In X-Men: TAS Season 2, Episode 11 "Mojovision" & Season 3, Episode 10 "Longshot" Close Longshot appeared in two episodes of X-Men: The Animated Series, both featuring the nefarious Mojo as the primary antagonist. As a genetically engineered rebel from Mojoworld, Longshot brought his acrobatic prowess and luck-altering abilities to aid the X-Men against the manipulative Mojo. His
enigmatic charm and mysterious background added intrigue to these episodes, leaving the door open for subsequent appearances that never materialized.
X-Men ’97 episode 4, “Motendo,” would have been the perfect opportunity to reintroduce Longshot, continuing his association with Mojo from X-Men: TAS. Although Longshot did appear in X-Men ‘97’s adaptive credits for this episode, his only appearance was as stuffed toy that appeared in Jubilee's bedroom. Despite this, Longshot has a long history with the X-Men in Marvel Comics, joining the official team after escaping Mojo’s clutches. Longshot could, therefore, be
introduced in any narrative as a new member of the ever-evolving team in X-Men ’97.

7 Warlock Was A Memorable Feature In A Weaker X-Men: TAS Season Warlock Appeared In X-Men: TAS Season 5, Episode 1-2 "The Phalanx Covenant" Close Warlock made noteworthy appearances in X-Men: The Animated Series, bolstering the weaker fifth season - which was produced by a different animation house. His inclusion in a fun two-part episode provided a much-needed boost, showcasing his unique abilities and eccentric personality. As a long-time member of the New Mutants in the comics,
Warlock brought a fresh and engaging dynamic to X-Men: TAS. His morphing form and techno-organic nature offered visually striking scenes despite the season's overall lower production quality.
Warlock's return in X-Men '97 season 2 would be highly entertaining, especially with the revival's updated animation techniques.
His ability to transform and adapt his form could flourish, creating visually spectacular sequences and adding depth to the storytelling. Warlock’s quirky character and distinctive powers would inject humor and excitement into the series, appealing to both new viewers and longtime fans of the X-Men universe.
6 Cannonball Is An Important New Mutants Member Cannonball Appeared In X-Men: TAS Season 5, Episode 8 "Hidden Agendas" Close Cannonball (AKA Sam Guthrie) appeared in a late episode of X-Men: The Animated Series, where he discovered his mutant powers and used them to rescue several miners during a collapse in his hometown. Despite being asked to join the X-Men, he declined, choosing to stay with his family. In the comics,
Cannonball is a key member of the New Mutants before graduating to the main X-Men team.
He could readily appear in X-Men '97, particularly as other New Mutants members have appeared in the background in numerous episodes. Cannonball's unique abilities and heroic nature could add tension to the team, while
his journey from a small-town hero to a member of the X-Men could provide compelling storytelling. His inclusion would also honor the legacy of the New Mutants, bringing more beloved characters into the fold of the evolving X-Men team.
5 Ka-Zar And The Savage Land Ka-Zar Appeared In X-Men: TAS Season 2, Episode 12-13 "Reunion" & Season 3, Episodes 12-13 "Savage Land, Strange Heart" Close Ka-Zar made notable appearances in X-Men: The Animated Series, in narratives set in the Savage Land. As the protector of this prehistoric territory, Ka-Zar allies with the X-Men to combat the malevolent forces threatening his home, most notably Mister Sinister, Sauron, and Garok. Ka-Zar’s partnership with his loyal companion, Zabu the saber-toothed tiger, and his rugged, courageous nature added a unique inflection to the series. These episodes boasted
thrilling adventures, blending jungle action with mutant heroics, and highlighted Ka-Zar's fierce dedication to preserving the Savage Land.
In X-Men '97 season 2, Ka-Zar could be reintroduced to explore new storylines involving the Savage Land. His character offers opportunities for visually stunning episodes featuring exotic landscapes and formidable adversaries. Bringing Ka-Zar back would
deepen the show's lore and provide exciting new challenges for the X-Men, ensuring a blend of nostalgia and fresh adventures.

4 Carol Danvers Was Still Ms. Marvel Carol Danvers Appeared In X-Men: TAS Season 2, Episode 9 "A Rogue's Tale" Close In X-Men: The Animated Series, Carol Danvers,
known then as Ms. Marvel, appeared in a flashback storyline where she lost her powers permanently to Rogue and was confined to a coma. This dramatic plot depicted Rogue’s redemption as a member of the Brotherhood. This was explored further through Rogue's struggle with Danvers' consciousness, battling for control over her body as Rogue questions with her own morality.
In X-Men '97 season 2, Danvers could awaken from her coma and regain her powers,
transitioning to her current identity as Captain Marvel. This development would bring a fresh, exciting storyline, tying in with her elevated status in the MCU. It would offer an opportunity to explore her resilience and evolution as a hero, adding a new dimension to the narrative and further expanding the X-Men universe and the expanding Avengers line-up within the series.
3 Havok Appeared As A Member Of X-Factor Havok Appeared In X-Men: TAS Season 3, Episode 6 "The Phoenix Saga, Part IV: The Starjammers," Season 3, Episode 11 "Cold Comfort," Season 3, Episode 18 "Orphan's End," & Season 4, Episode 4 "Sanctuary, Part 2" Close Havok appeared in several X-Men: TAS episodes, during which he met his brother Cyclops, but
their relationship was never fully revealed - though it was hinted at when their powers canceled each other out. Known for his powerful energy blasts, Havok, whose real name is Alex Summers, showcased his abilities in various episodes. Havok also appeared as a child in flashbacks which detailed the two brothers’ escape from a plane crash that they believed killed their parents.
X-Men '97 season 2 could address this gap, exploring the historical tension between the Summers brothers. Revealing their relationship would add depth to both characters and introduce compelling storylines about family, loyalty, and rivalry. Havok's inclusion would also expand the X-Men roster, offering new team dynamics and battles. Exploring Alex's connection to Scott could provide rich, emotional narratives, enhancing the series' continuity and
fulfilling a decades-old unresolved narrative.

2 Corsair And The Space Pirates Havok Appeared In X-Men: TAS Season 3, Episode 6 "The Phoenix Saga, Part IV: The Starjammers," Episoed 6 "The Phoenix Saga, Part V: Child Of Light", & Season 3, Episode 18 "Orphan's End" Close In X-Men: The Animated Series, Corsair and the Starjammers made a significant appearance during the Phoenix Saga. Corsair, the swashbuckling leader of the Starjammers, is revealed to be Christopher Summers, the long-lost father of Cyclops and Havok. This revelation added an emotional layer to the series,
intertwining family drama with epic space adventures. The Starjammers, a group of intergalactic pirates, provided a fresh, adventurous angle to the series.
Seeing Corsair and the Starjammers in X-Men '97 season 2 would be a delightful continuation of this storyline. Their return could explore the complex relationships within the Summers family further and introduce new interstellar threats and adventures,
particularly if Alex Summers was also introduced. This is especially pertinent after a third Summer's Brother, Vulcan, appeared in X-Men '97 as part of the Imperial Guard in episode 6 “Lifedeath - Part 2.”
1 Deadpool Would Be An Unlikely Addition Deadpool Appeared In X-Men: The Animated Series Season 1, Episode 4 "Deady Reunions," Season 2, Episode 3 "Whatever It Takes," & Season 3, Episode 3 "The Phoenix Saga, Part II: The Dark Shroud" Close Deadpool, one of Marvel's most popular characters thanks to Ryan Reynolds' stellar performance in the movies, would be perfect for X-Men '97. Though often considered a mutant, Deadpool has little official X-Men affiliation. Despite this,
he featured indirectly in three episodes of X-Men: The Animated Series. Deadpool appeared in a flashback in Sabretooth's mind in "Deadly Reunions." Later, Morph assumed Deadpool's form to taunt Wolverine in "Whatever It Takes," and Dark Xavier conjured Deadpool's image in "The Phoenix Saga, Part II: The Dark Shroud" for the same purpose.
Deadpool's unique blend of humor, combat skills, and unpredictability would add a fresh dynamic to X-Men '97. His inclusion could explore new and exciting storylines, appealing to both longtime fans and new viewers. However, X-Men ’97 was not allowed to include Deadpool in season 1 for an undetermined reason. Nevertheless, he would make an exciting update if included in X-Men ’97 season 2.
