As well as the New Avengers, Thunderbolts, and the Fantastic Four, a number of other superhero teams have been speculated to be coming together, though haven't yet been confirmed. One of these could be the MCU's long-wanted Midnight Sons, and Marvel Studios may be in talks with the perfect director for the supernatural group's potential live-action debut.

On June 4, 2024, journalist Jeff Sneider reported that Jordan Peele had been meeting with Marvel Studios regarding the possibility of directing an upcoming MCU movie. Jordan Peele would be a huge asset to Marvel Studios, particularly thanks to his combination of overt horror, psychological thriller, and dark comedy. In recent years, Peele has become something of an auteur, writing and directing hit after hit, including Get Out, Us, and Nope. Neither Jordan Peele nor Marvel Studios have confirmed that meetings have taken place, but this is still an incredibly exciting development for the MCU. While it was previously unknown which project Jordan Peele may have met Marvel Studios regarding, more recent speculation has suggested this could have been concerning the MCU's highly-anticipated X-Men reboot. There's no doubt that Peele would do a fantastic job at introducing a reinvented X-Men team to the MCU, but this may not be the perfect match for the director. Peele's work across the horror, drama, thriller, action, and comedy genres, however, may make him a much better fit for a different upcoming superhero team in the MCU's future: the Midnight Sons.

Jordan Peele Would Be The Perfect Director For The MCU’s Midnight Sons Close The Midnight Sons made their first full appearance in Marvel Comics in 1992's Ghost Rider (Vol. 3) #31, introduced as a team of supernaturally-focused heroes and antiheroes brought together to battle Lilith, Mother of all Demons. Originally comprising Ghost Riders, vampires, and Darkhold Redeemers, the roster of the Midnight Sons has changed over the years, but the team has always shone a light on some of Marvel's darker, more twisted, and more terrifying storylines and characters. This is right in Jordan Peele's wheelhouse.
While Peele started his career in comedy, most notably as one half of Key and Peele, he has since moved in some more horror-leaning directions. Get Out, Us, and Nope have all dabbled with the supernatural and paranormal, and have managed to deliver powerful and poignant social messages simultaneously. This could be the role of the Midnight Sons in the MCU, with their formation proving that even misfit and monstrous individuals can do some good. Peele is the perfect director to take on this legendary Marvel team, and the stage has already been set for their debut.

In the last few years, Marvel Studios has introduced a huge number of new superheroes to the MCU, due in part to the franchise's expansion into TV on Disney+. Many of these heroes have been potential members of the Midnight Sons, including the likes of Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, Dane Whitman, and Elsa Bloodstone, among others. Following Mahershala Ali's voice cameo in Eternals, in which he wanted Whitman about the Ebony Blade, theories began to emerge that Ali's Blade could be setting up the MCU's Midnight Sons team. WandaVision brought the Darkhold into the MCU proper, Werewolf by Night expanded the world of the MCU's monsters, and Eternals and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law brought vampires into the MCU for the first time. Members of the potential cast of the MCU's Midnight Sons project have even voiced their hopes that the team will form, with Oscar Isaac noting that it would be an "interesting opportunity" (via X). While there hasn't been any official confirmation, it seems the formation of the Midnight Sons is already largely done, and Jordan Peele would be a brilliant choice to lead their debut project.
