Next Marvel Show Sets Up The MCU"s Doctor Doom According To Wild Theory

Summary
  • Castle Doom may have been seen in Agatha All Along's trailer, suggesting Doctor Doom could appear in the upcoming series.
  • Doctor Doom has strong connections to the Scarlet Witch and the world of magic in Marvel Comics, making Agatha All Along a great place to introduce him.
  • Doctor Doom's appearance in Agatha All Along may be unexpected, but this could set him up to become the MCU's new major antagonist.
According to a wild new theory, Marvel Studios' upcoming Agatha All Along series could introduce Doctor Doom as the next major villain of the MCU. Kathryn Hahn was confirmed to be reprising her role of original Salem witch Agatha Harkness shortly after her debut in 2021's WandaVision, and the newly-released trailer for Agatha All Along has provided a first look at her upcoming solo adventure. As if Agatha Harkness and a new coven of witches wasn't enough, one scene in the trailer could hint at Doctor Doom also making himself known in Agatha All Along.
Given Doctor Doom and the Scarlet Witch's connection in Marvel Comics, it's very possible that the iconic Fantastic Four villain could make his first appearance in the MCU's upcoming WandaVision spinoff. However, not even Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff has been revealed to be returning among Agatha All Along's strong cast, though the series is expected to focus intensely on the Scarlet Witch's effect on Agatha Harkness. While perhaps unexpected, Agatha All Along could be the perfect place to tease Doctor Doom's debut in the MCU.

Theory: Castle Doom Was Revealed In The Agatha All Along Trailer During one moment in Agatha All Along's trailer, Agatha Harkness and Billy Kaplan make their way through a dark landscape and come across a mysterious castle in the distance. Some, including @CovenofChaoss, suspect that this castle might actually be Castle Doom, the home of Doctor Doom in Marvel Comics. While this is yet to be confirmed, and likely won't be until Agatha All Along premieres in September, the castle in the series' trailer and Castle Doom in the comics do share many similarities.
Just like Marvel Comics' Castle Doom, the castle in Agatha All Along's trailer sits atop a great hill. In the comics, the capital of Doom's Kingdom of Latveria, Doomstadt, sits at the bottom of this hill, with his castle protruding from the center. While Doomstadt can't be seen in Agatha All Along's trailer, it's very possible that Agatha Harkness and Billy Kaplan's journey could bring them to this town. Alternately, this could also be Doctor Doom's other castle located in a twisted image of Upstate New York, which also bears a resemblance.
Scarlet Witch Is Connected To Doctor Doom In Marvel Comics Close Long after the Scarlet Witch's disappearance in Marvel Comics following the events of House of M and Decimation, she was found residing in Castle Doom, and suffering from amnesia. During this period, Victor Von Doom and Wanda Maximoff had married, though her memories were soon restored, and this whirlwind romance reversed. This storyline would make perfect sense being adapted for the live-action MCU in the wake of the Scarlet Witch's run as a villain through WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Wanda Maximoff tried to steal America Chavez's power in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in hopes of finding a world where she could be with her sons, Billy and Tommy, who were erased at the end of WandaVision.
The Scarlet Witch's connection to Doctor Doom in Marvel Comics, and her connection to Agatha Harkness in the MCU, means the legendary Marvel villain could easily make an appearance in Agatha All Along. This could even mark Elizabeth Olsen's return to the MCU, as she may be found residing inside Castle Doom with no memory of her previous life. In the comics, she seeks out Doom in an effort to resurrect her children, and the same story could unfold in the MCU.
Agatha All Along Could Set Up Doctor Doom As The MCU's Next Big Villain Throughout the Multiverse Saga, Marvel Studios built up Kang the Conqueror and his variants as the MCU's primary antagonists. After Jonathan Majors' 2023 arrest, conviction, and firing from Marvel, however, there was some confusion about which direction the franchise would take. Kang could be recast, allowing him and his variants to still pose a major threat, while there has also been speculation that a new villain will be introduced to take his place. Doctor Doom would be the perfect candidate for this role.
Doctor Doom plays a prominent role in Marvel Comics' Secret Wars event in 2015, which will form the inspiration behind the MCU's Avengers: Secret Wars. Because of this, now is the best time to bring Doctor Doom into the MCU, and Agatha All Along presents a strong opportunity, as his intrinsic links to the Scarlet Witch and the world of magic in Marvel Comics makes the upcoming series a great fit for Doom. This could see Doctor Doom set up to be a villain in several upcoming projects, posing a threat for years to come.
