Thor 5 Is More Important Than Ever After Chris Hemsworth"s Love & Thunder Confession

Summary
  • Hemsworth takes responsibility for Thor: Love & Thunder, highlighting the need for Thor 5.
  • The Multiverse Saga's unevenness included Thor: Love & Thunder's divisive comedic approach.
  • Thor 5's potential plot hints, Hemsworth's self-critique, and Thor 4's open-ended conclusion lay the groundwork for future redemption.
Thor 5 is a lot more important now after Chris Hemsworth opened up about Thor: Love and Thunder, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs to find a way to make it happen. The MCU continues its expansion with the Multiverse Saga, which even though has had some exciting and important stories and adventures, it has been quite messy and uneven, especially compared to the Infinity Saga. Unsurprisingly, the Multiverse Saga has had its failures both on the big screen and on TV, and among them is Thor’s fourth solo adventure, Thor: Love and Thunder.
After leaving with the Guardians of the Galaxy at the end of Avengers: Endgame, Thor got back into shape and became a Ravager in Thor: Love and Thunder, but he parted ways with the Guardians after a distress signal from Sif about Gorr (Christian Bale). During his mission to find and stop Gorr, Thor had a surprise reunion with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who was now wielding Mjolnir as the Mighty Thor. Thor: Love and Thunder didn’t quite connect with the audience, but Hemsworth’s comments on what went wrong with it make Thor 5 more important than ever.
Related Thor 5 Can Be The God Of Thunder's Biggest Challenge Yet (By Being His Smallest) Thor 5 isn"t yet confirmed, but the ending of Thor: Ragnarok teases a smaller stakes conflict with the potential for a huge impact on the character.
Chris Hemsworth Blamed Himself For Thor: Love & Thunder Chris Hemsworth Is Taking Responsibility For Thor: Love & Thunder’s Failure Close Chris Hemsworth admitted he got “caught up in the improv and the wackiness” and feels he became a parody of himself.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Chris Hemsworth opened up about his thoughts on Thor: Love and Thunder, and his words took the audience by surprise. Hemsworth took the blame for Thor: Love and Thunder’s flaws, admitting he got “caught up in the improv and the wackiness” and feels he became a parody of himself, adding that he “didn’t stick the landing”. Hemsworth also thinks he owes the audience another Thor movie after Love and Thunder, and opened up about how he felt playing Thor in his first MCU appearances, saying he felt the God of Thunder was the “security guard” of the Avengers.
Thor has had a tough road in the MCU. He made his debut in 2011 in his first solo movie and returned the following year in The Avengers, where he became an official member of the team. His second solo adventure, Thor: The Dark World, is considered among the worst MCU movies, and Thor started to become a forgettable character when he wasn’t with the Avengers. In 2016, Taika Waititi took over the character in Thor: Ragnarok, bringing humor to the God of Thunder and seizing Hemsworth’s comedic skills, while also giving Thor a much more likable personality.
This new Thor continued in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and Waititi returned to direct Love and Thunder. The fourth Thor movie continued the comedic tone of Ragnarok but couldn’t match its quality and success, leading to a lot of criticism and now Hemsworth taking the blame for its flaws.
Thor 5 Can Help Hemsworth Really Stick The Landing Chris Hemsworth Can Learn From Thor: Love & Thunder Luckily for Hemsworth, Love and Thunder didn’t give Thor a definitive ending. After Gorr meets Eternity and makes his wish, Thor convinces him to wish for his daughter, Love, to be revived rather than wish for the destruction of the gods. Gorr asks Eternity to revive Love and it's granted, but he dies from the curse of the Necrosword, though not before asking Thor to take care of his daughter. At the end of Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor is shown living with Love, who accompanies him in his heroic missions as he wields Mjolnir and she wields Stormbreaker, thus becoming the title “Love and Thunder”.
The door is open for Thor’s return aside from his possible appearance in the upcoming crossover events Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars, and after how Thor: Love and Thunder performed with viewers, Thor 5 is more needed than ever. Hemsworth is aware that Love and Thunder didn’t quite work, even though it isn’t his fault, but he can learn key lessons from this experience and from his perspective on what he did wrong, and he definitely deserves the chance to show this in Thor 5.
Why Thor: Love & Thunder Was So Divisive Thor: Love & Thunder Couldn’t Recreate The Magic Of Thor: Ragnarok While some praised that it carried on with the comedic tone of Thor: Ragnarok, many others found this problematic.
Thor: Love and Thunder got mixed to negative reviews from critics and was quite divisive with fans of the MCU. While some praised that it carried on with the comedic tone of Thor: Ragnarok, many others found this problematic as it felt repetitive and found that the comedy was taken too far, to the point where it wasn’t funny. The comedic tone of Thor: Love and Thunder was a problem for many, who found that it was too much and took away from the movie’s most serious and heavy storylines, as were Gorr’s backstory and mission and Jane’s cancer.
Bale’s and Portman’s performances received praise from critics and viewers, and some pointed out the emotional parts of the story as a strength, even if to some they got lost in the comedy and not-so-impressive visual effects. Thor: Love and Thunder might become one of the MCU’s most forgettable movies for different reasons, but Chris Hemsworth deserves another chance in Thor 5 to make things right and in a way he’s comfortable with.
