The MCU Already Risks Forgetting About 4 Of Phase 4"s Best New Characters

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 was the beginning of Marvel’s Disney+ TV shows, which have introduced some interesting characters, of which some are already set to return either on the big screen or in other TV shows, but there are four new characters that the MCU is already forgetting. The MCU is currently exploring its multiverse, which has allowed it to bring characters from past Marvel movies into this connected universe as well as introduce a variety of new characters, and as Phase 4 also began the exploration of the MCU’s supernatural side, it has also brought characters unlike any others seen before.
Kicking off the MCU’s TV shows was WandaVision, which followed Wanda Maximoff’s (Elizabeth Olsen) grieving process after Vision’s (Paul Bettany) death and her transformation into the Scarlet Witch. WandaVision was followed by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki (which began the exploration of the multiverse), What If…?, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Some of the new characters introduced in these shows are already set to return, but there are four whose futures are still unclear: White Vision (Bettany), Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac), and Werewolf by Night (Gael García Bernal).
White Vision, Moon Knight, & Kate Bishop’s Futures Are Unknown The version of Vision that lived in Westview with Wanda was a product of her illusions inside the Hex, but outside Wanda’s world, S.W.O.R.D. had the remains of Vision’s body and reactivated him in order to destroy Wanda and Westview, becoming White Vision. At the end of WandaVision, White Vision absorbed Vision’s memories and declared himself to be the true Vision before leaving. Kate Bishop was introduced in Hawkeye, where she teamed up with Clint Barton, and at the end of the series, they agreed to share the name “Hawkeye”. Moon Knight introduced Marc Spector, a man with dissociative identity disorder who becomes the avatar of the Egyptian God Khonshu, transforming him into the vigilante Moon Knight. At the end of the series, a new alter of Spector, Jake Lockley, took over, and he killed Arthur Harrow before driving away from the hospital.
Last but not least is Jack Russell, who was introduced in the TV special Werewolf by Night. Jack is afflicted with a curse that transforms him into a werewolf during the full moon, thus why he’s known as Werewolf by Night. At the end of Werewolf by Night, Jack reunited with Man-Thing after the chaos at the Bloodstone Temple, and that was the last time he was seen. Unlike characters like Sylvie and Monica Rambeau, White Vision, Kate, Moon Knight, and Werewolf by Night don’t have a confirmed return in the MCU (yet), and if the MCU keeps ignoring them, it will be missing some big opportunities as their appearances left a bunch of unanswered questions, and their stories are unlike those of other characters (particularly the stories of Moon Knight and Werewolf by Night), and they could be valuable allies to the rest of the MCU’s heroes.
Will White Vision, Moon Knight, Kate Bishop, & Werewolf By Night Return In Avengers 5 & 6? The MCU has already missed a couple of opportunities to bring these characters back, but they could still make a triumphant return in the upcoming crossover events Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. The conflicts that Kang (Jonathan Majors) and his variants will unleash in Avengers 5 and 6 will be unlike anything the MCU has seen, and the Avengers will need all the help they can get from different fronts. White Vision and Kate Bishop are expected to join the battle, and Moon Knight would be a great addition thanks to the abilities that Khonshu grants him, but Werewolf by Night might be trickier to bring back in Avengers 5 and 6. Werewolf by Night might have better chances to return in a project linked to the MCU’s supernatural side, like Blade, but Marvel could still find a way to make him a part of the final adventures of the Multiverse Saga.
